This article was originally published on the TecRec blog on August 23, 2018.

The Rebreather Training Council is a body representing leading training organizations that offer rebreather training. Presently, ten organizations are members and work together to exchange information and create agreed training standards and operational protocols. In 2017, the RTC published the RTC Recreational Rebreather Diver Level 1 standard. Now (in 2018), the RTC has also published the RTC Technical Rebreather Diver Level 1. The RTC is working on further, higher level standards that will continue to improve diver safety and standardize global rebreather training.

All RTC standards are located here.

RTC’s policy regarding any additional requirements stipulated by the manufacturers of rebreathers can be accessed from the same page.

PADI is pleased to advise Members that the PADI Tec 40 CCR Diver Course meets the RTC Technical Rebreather Diver Level 1 standard.
